Eligibility Criteria
  • What is required to get a Berry loan?

    Berry makes it easy. To apply, you only need your smart-phone, National ID and Safaricom mobile number. We will also seek your consent to access data on your phone in order ascertain your eligibility.

  • How does Berry determine who to lend to?

    Data from your phone, including your mobile-phone usage patterns is considered when making the lending decision. This is combined with your Berry repayment records that gradually build a personalized credit score, determining the credit offers you receive.

  • Why was my loan application rejected?

    If your loan application was not successful, don't worry! It may take several attempts to qualify for a loan. We encourage you to keep the Berry app on your phone and continue saving data on your phone and reapply after the period given.

  • How long does the application process take?

    We strive is to process all loan applications within a few minutes. However, on a case by case basis, the verification process duration may differ.

Loan Offers
  • How much can I borrow?

    Our credit facilities range from KSH. 1000 to KSH. 50,000. If you repay loans on time, you boost your chances to access a higher loan limit at lower interest rates.

  • How do you determine how much I can borrow?

    Your credit amount is determined by several factors, including repayment history. If you repay each instalment by its due date, you boost your chances to access larger loan amounts in future. Note that the increase may not always be immediate and that repaying your loan late may result in reduced loan offers.

  • What interest rate will Berry charge me?

    Rates are determined by several factors, including your Berry repayment records and the cost of lending for us. You are also required to cover any mobile money transaction costs, such as M-PESA charges, associated with loan repayment. Standard SMS and data charges by your mobile service provider may apply.

  • Will my loan rate increase every time I repay my loan?

    Your loan offers are automatically determined by several factors. Even though it may not always increase immediately, you can be assured it will increase gradually as you continue to borrow with Berry and repay the loans as scheduled.

My Account
  • How do I change my personal details?

    Berry collects your personal information like name, mobile telephone number, national ID and date of birth; which cannot be changed. However, you can update your profile picture by clicking on the edit button.

  • How can I add a new mobile number?

    To register a new mobile number, please send us a request on the App.

Repayment
  • How Do I Repay My Loan?

    To make a repayment, please follow the following steps

    • Navigate to MPESA in your Safaricom menu on your phone
    • Select Lipa na MPESA
    • Choose the Paybill option
    • Enter the Paybill number 977888
    • For account number, enter your MPESA number on which you received your Berry loan
    • Enter your repayment amount
    • Enter your MPESA pin
    • Confirm that all details are correct and press ‘OK’.

  • Where can I see my loan repayment schedule?

    To view your repayment information, kindly click on the menu on your top left and select “Loan History”. You will be able to see your due date and the amount due.

  • What do I do if my payment doesn’t reflect?

    If you do not receive a confirmation from Berry that your repayment was received within a two (2) hours, kindly send us the transaction confirmation message you received and the number you used to make the payment via the app.

  • What happens if I repay my loan late?

    Late repayments will affect your ability to access future or larger loans.

Security & Privacy
  • Can I trust Berry with my data?

    Berry uses exceptional data security and encryption methods to protect the data you share with us as per GDPR regulations. We hold and maintain the data in strictest confidence. We never share your information with third parties unless it is for dedicated business purposes, such as reporting defaulted loans to authorized credit bureaus. We do not sell your data or credit profile.

  • Why do you need permissions for my phone?

    For Berry to make a lending decision, we use data from your phone, which includes your handset information and financial dealing records. This information forms a pivotal function in our decision-making process, enabling us to deliver prompt and consistent financial services.
